I am Wahlarzt (doctor of choice): In Austria, patients are free to choose their doctors. In addition to doctors who have a contract with and are directly paid by the Federal Health Insurance Fund (Österreichische Krankenversicherung, replaces previous public health insurance companies), there is a system of doctors of choice allowing everyone to be treated by medical doctors who have no such contract.
This implies that after the consultation you will receive an invoice to be paid at the end of the consultation or treatment. You can then submit the invoice to the Federal Health Insurance Fund, which will reimburse part of the fee (for further information, please see:
Kostenerstattung). If you have also private medical insurance, costs may be reimbursed in full.
Payment at my practice can be made by debit or credit card or in cash.
In urgent cases or in an emergency, appointments are available at short notice.
NOTE: Please provide us with at least 24 hours notice by mail or telephone if you would like to cancel your appointment at no cost. In the event of a later cancellation or non-appearance, a penalty fee of EUR 50.00 will become applicable.
